Day 298 – Ghetto Mic Holders

Check da mic 1-2-1-2

10 years ago I decided that I wanted to get a recording set up. When I finally got the money together I ordered a Mac, mic stand, pop filter, mic cable, the original MBox that came with Pro Tools LE and this mic. Within the first week the rubber rings that were supposed to hold up the mic all broke (they were dry-rotted when I got them). I’m a pretty good problem solver and realized that hair ties would do the trick. So, for 10 years this is the way this shockmount has looked, but hey…it works!

It’s amazing what determination can bring you. I never thought I would be engineering professionally 10 years later…then again, maybe I did and don’t remember what I was thinking back then.
